BMillar is correct, there is a 90-degree rubber elbow with one end circular and the other end oval. I am pretty sure one of these came with my new battery, sealed in a plastic bag stuck to the battery case.

I kept my old adapter elbow on the vent hose, so I had no need for the new one. I think I saved it, although I couldn't find it just now in my garage when I went to look. I may have pitched it because the sticky bag was annoying the H*** out of me, sticking to everything else in my parts stash, but I will look again tomorrow.
