Since I have extremely easy access to alternator with head and intake manifold out, for PM was going to just replace regulator and ordered new Bosch 130 one for $34 online.. pulled it out last night and brushes were quite worn and a good groove (.5mm + maybe?)in stator from rear brush mostly.
Bearings spin OK, but have a slight amount of wiggle play at pulley and regulator end.. 175K miles on them bearings unless previous owner had replaced?.. already have over $1k into this rebuild PM parts replacement deal to hopefully get me a few more years out of it and can't stomach another $250+ for rebuilt alternator.
I can get a 140 amp off the 04 Aero with 56K that my Turbo is coming out of for $54 with a "lifetime warranty" from pamsauto.com.. I did get a power steering pump from them also off this same 56K car for $37 to replace as PM as my PS pump pulley had play in it, no leaks though..
Will the 140 amp from 04 Aero bolt up and line up belts, and/or not cause complications with elec system with 10 extra amps?
If so, at 56K does it make sense to throw a new $35 regulator (140 amp)or assume at 56K, it would last as long as remaining life in my 175K motor?
Heading out to garage for the afernoon to start the parts clean up process.. and drop the pan..
Enjoy your Sunday folks..
