My wife and I just returned from a trip from Bismarck to Detroit and back. We went there around Chicago (traffic and roads were even worse than when we lived there 12 years ago), and back through Michigan's Upper Peninsula, which was great. 2600 miles round trip, and we averaged 31.6 miles per gallon, hand calculated. Interstate highway (or what passes for interstate highway in these stimulus-fueled road construction times) from here to Detroit and up to Mackinaw City, and mostly two lane roads back from there.

This Detroit native always enjoys a trip back "home."

The 9-5 Aero continues to impress as a terrific road car. I hope the new one makes it here next year, and that it's at least as good as our 2005 is. I also hope that a stick shift is still an option for those of us who prefer it.
