Help,
My 2005 ARC started to develop surging RPMs between 300 - 1200 and bucking rough IDLE. Started only at times, but than at stop signs/lights but by yesterday it go so bad the car was jerking or bucking due to severe RPM stutter or hunting even in higher gears (auto).
After reading multiple Saab posters about the 9-5 Throttle Body being a likely culprit (no CEL, yet). I loosened the black plenum and using an old clean t-shirt with TB Cleaner and my finger cleaned the inside of the TB and butterfly. There was a thick black carbon ring around the butterfly and I had to use a piece of plastic with cloth around it to open TB so I could clean both sides. I cleaned until no more black grime/carbon came off. shot about a 10% of the can around the inside of the TB. Let it air out a bit. Put it all back together and the car started right away, and idled like it was new. I drove it 80 miles today through ATL and even stopped by the Saab dealer to discuss with them. Did I fix it? Is this a common occurence ay 58K? Thanks!!
