I bought my '02 aero with 56,000 miles and at that time it had a noise when i turned left from the front of the car. I assumed it was a wheel bearing and replaced it. The noise went away.
It was realitively easy, took a but of muscling around to get the drive shaft/spline out of the hub and back into the new one.
I was surprised when i called the local independant saab mechanic and asked what he would charge. He didnt even reolise the design changed in '02, said he would have to press the bearing like someone else here said. Anyway, i did it meyself...
