The 9-5 automatic transmissions do not have a fluid filter that is serviceable, so maintaining it is a matter of periodically draining and replacing some of the transmission fluid. I recall that the manual does not call for draining the trans fluid until either 60,000 or 90,000 miles. But I would rather err on the cautious side, so I drain the 3-4 quarts that come out of the drain plug fitting every 15,000 miles or so. The drain plug is a 23mm or a 24mm bolt that faces the passenger side of the car and relatively easy to get to.
