Saab to announce new owner this week
06/15/2009, 8:49 AMBy Andrew GanzThe last - and potentially the most valuable - of General Motors’ three brands up for sale, Saab, says it will likely announce the name of its new owner later this week. Though Saab has not actually confirmed the level of interest from any of the rumored parties, a source last week claimed that sports car manufacturer Koenigsegg, backed by further Norwegian investors, was interested in Saab.

Saab’s spokeswoman told the media earlier today that the announcement could come this week.

“I think that during this week, chances are good. It could be anytime now,” spokeswoman Gunilla Gustavs said.

Saab is expected to bring more than either Hummer or Saturn because its sale would include research and development facilities, and a brand new product, as well as the automaker’s Trollhattan, Sweden, assembly plant.
