02 9-5 Linear, weird turbo issue (not smoke) Posted by SteveR [Email] (#2755) [Profile/Gallery] (more from SteveR) on Tue, 30 Jun 2009 07:24:37 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Bought from a used car dealer in NJ, it was seemingly working fine on the hour ride home. However after driving an 01 9-5 SW I notice a big difference. In 5th gear, around 45 mph which is only around 1300rpm, when I push my foot down on the accelerator in the SW, the car moans about it, gives me some hum, but ACCELERATES.
In the Linear that I have now, I tried to do the same. But instead, the car DEcelerated. I figured it was nothing, until I tried to merge on the highway in 3rd the other day. Foot down on the pedal, and I got weak response. Not only did the car accelerate slowly, but the car leaped and jerked forward. During this craziness, I noticed that the turbo gauge was mimicking the same actions as the physicality of the car.
The turbo gauge shot up and down with the cars jerks and spurts.
I highly doubt that the dealer (or even the owner before me) used fully synthetic oil, and I've read that that can be a problem. But I also replaced a thin rubber hose that seemed to be too frayed, I forget exactly which. When replacing it, the new hose seemed to be a little thicker, but fit nonetheless. Could that be it??
Thanks!
Steve
