I have found that the heater hose going from the left side of the engine (just under the DI connector)fails where it connects to the engine. It failed on both of my aeros. from there it will drip onto the transmission as you said.
heater bypass valve is also a failure point ... it drips farther back. Its mounted on the firewall.
either way, if you are planning to DIY, get yourself those hose clamp pliers at sears or snap-on!
for the record, if you get low coolant message on the SID, stop immediately.
