Yeah, I've done this job about 2 weeks ago. I didn't remove the torque arm from the car, I just took out the bolt that held it to the transmission (via the crappy rubber buch), bent it down, replaced the mount with poly, and put it back up. 1 bolt, 16mm socket, and the job is done! I think I posted a picture somewhere here...
As for the performance - no extra vibration whatsoever. As you say, it reduced the clunk when putting in D/R, as well as when starting from stop. I also drained/refilled tranny fluid 3 times, which made all shifts much smoother. It's definitely an upgrade over the stock mount which IIRC is pretty bad even when brand new.
On the side note, after couple cycles of hard driving I noticed that myexhaust tip (BSR) slid under the car approx. half an inch. I'm guessing the mount is holding the transmission better to the front of the subframe now and the engine repositioned "slightly" forward. No problems though, just an observation.
