Well my wife's been a nanny for about 8 years now and has tons of experience with kids, plus she's from a big family and her siblings have big families. We actually put him in a regular bed about 3 weeks ago and he took to it right away. The kid just thrives on learning and he's 100% hands on with us, he puts his laundry in the basket every night, helps unload the dishes, wants to help clean...etc...etc., as opposed to staring at a TV or sitting in a room full of toys. He loves to impress and in doing so, always gets praise from us...so he's really happy when he pleases us.
As for the training, my wife just decided that last Saturday was the day to start and we just dedicated pretty much every waking moment to get him on the potty. Every 10 minutes was just "do you have to go? do you want to try?" and he just took to it right away. He's in pull-ups for sleeping since he's still young...but, first thing in the morning it's right to the bathroom. After 2-3 days he caught on and the last 3 days he's had zero accidents...not bad for 6 days! Now he's a natural at it :)
We figured it was worth a shot and if it didn't work out, oh well...diapers for a little while longer. Was WELL worth the effort!
