Code 19 Solved - but raises another question Posted by Greg Bender [Email] (#1027) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Greg Bender) on Sat, 25 Jul 2009 07:36:21 In Reply to: ACC Code 18 and 19???, Greg Bender [Profile/Gallery] , Fri, 24 Jul 2009 18:03:52 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Hi all,
I removed the coolant/heater circulation pump and it is well past ruined. It has every appearance of leaking for some time now and the motor is completely frozen. Junk. When I tested the motor, there was actually a direct short between the two terminals...which may have caused my radiator fans to operate on low for hours???? Not sure if these two things are related or not.
I also tested the solenoid for the heater valve and it functions beautifully. Perhaps code 18 will clear itself now that the circulation pump is out of the equation.
I understand that the circulation pump was optional on the 4 cylinders but that it was mounted on all 6 cylinders. I also understand that it only turned on when (a) the ignition is off and (b) the ambient temperature is below some certain temperature. If my understanding is correct, this would mean I should be able to remove it from the car entirely (2000 9-5 SE 6 cyl), connect those two hoses, and operate just fine. Can anyone confirm this?
Thanks for any input.
Regards,
Greg Bender
