ABS enigma resolved - one for the books.......

I've been fighting a failed ABS for almost a year on my 99 4cyl. wagon. It got progressively worse until finally the speedo and odomoter quit. A rebuild on the controller didn't fix it; a used controller didn't work; hours and hours of checking wires, resistance, and voltages didn't help.
I finally nailed it. The positive battary cable had corrosion "growing" up the cable from the battery for almost 1.5 - 2 inches. I cut off the bad part, put a new connector on, and it's been perfect ever since. Makes me wonder why no other electrical weirdness was evident......
There isn't really much slack in the battery cable, but I removed a clamp that was holding the cable down under the ABS unit and that gave me enough length to reach the battery terminal with the shortened cable.
I don't remember seeing this solution to the ABS problem before so I am posting it in case it might help anyone else.
