Serp belt squeals when wet... Posted by Larry West [Email] (#1140) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Larry West) on Sun, 2 Aug 2009 12:53:15 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Took my 1999 (new to me...) LPT/Auto out today on the nearly biblical downpours we had. First part of the trip was uneventful, as have been most of the past two weeks with this car. Made a stop for breakfast, and the serp belt started squealing. Switched off the ACC, headlights, anything to lessen the load - no real help. Getting the motor up t about 2,000 RPM made everything "hook up" and all was quiet, but anytime the revs fell below about 1,500, the squeal was back.
My specialist changed the belt and the small idler pulley when I picked up the car. Appears to be the long belt, but it's darned hard to see in there. The part # on the invoice is 6PK2415, not a Saab number, obviously.
I've no idea when the tensioner, its pulley, or the other idler pulley were changed. My specialist can look it up, though.
THinking that it might be the tensioner, or the other pulley. Am I on the right track?
