I decided to open things up last night and see if there was any oil in the turbo compressor. I did not find much of anything. In addition, there is NO play in the shaft (lateral or side-to-side). Also, where I saw the oil leaking from the turbo is actually where the down pipe connects to the turbo output, not the center section where the oil circulates. It has been my understanding that oil would be most likely to leak from the center section where the bearing is. Is it possible that a bad PCV check valve could cause the engine to suck oil into the turbo compressor? I took this out and put some air through it, and it seemed like it may have been "stuck" letting air go both ways until I cranked the air flow up high enough, but perhaps that is normal. I believe I replaced this as part of the PCV upgrade, so that doesn't seem likely. Can a turbo still be failing with no play in the shaft?
