Hi folks,

With a full load of passengers this weekend, I was getting a very worrisome vibration / rubbing / buzzing sound from the front passenger side (I'm 99.9% certain the car isn't rubbing though) my girlfriend could feel the vibration through the footwell. Also I get short, loud rubbery sounds from every corner over bumps / getting in / out of driveways, like a "squawwk" mixed with a "squiggle" (for whatever that's worth as far as info goes!)

Once the "rubbing sound" starts, it does it for maybe 3 to 10 seconds, then disappears, returning on occasion after going over dips / bumps. I can feel it slightly in the steering wheel, but can easily hear it over music playing. Today, with just me in the car, all 190 lbs of me, the sound was heard less often, but was heard nonetheless. It really sounds very wrong. The car seems to drive quite normally though, I can't say for sure if it really has an impact on dynamics.

I would hear the occasional clunk from the front passenger's side where the vibration is coming from and had asked my mechanic to check it out a few weeks ago, he saw nothing wrong with the car... This weekend it turned from clunk to much worse. What do you believe this could be, and how much could I be facing to fix it? Is it time to put some $ on new shocks?

Also, this rubbery sound from all corners, would this be bushings? I'm not mechanically inclined, I'm just taking guesses here. I'd like to get rid of all of these sounds, it makes the car seem old + clunky, when it really is still a fresh, fast & superb car overall. I'm at about 50k miles on my '04 Aero, manual.

Thanks everyone, this board is truly great!

Rick
