Went to the store, car was sufficiently warmed up. Came back out to the car and it wouldn't turn over. Cranks just fine, but doesn't catch. I opened the hood and let it sit for a while (~20 mins) while I waited for a tow truck. Got bored and banged with my hand on the rear DI cassette (the front is covered) and it turned over! Now, the fact that it started not long after I rapped on the DI was probably pure coincidence which may prompt one to ask why I did it. It made me feel better ... let's leave it at that. My guess is that it had more to do with the car cooling down.
I don't think it's the fuel pump as I could hear it turn on as I turned the key. So, what am I left with? A crank position sensor? Would this event have thrown a code? I went straight to the dealer from there. I shut the car off and tried to turn it back on and it started right up. Spent some time talking with the service writer and he didn't think that it would have stored a code. Then again, he doesn't install the highest degree of confidence in me when I talk with him. So I started the car back up, bid him farewell, told him I'd see him some time next week, and went on my way.
Ideas?
