Don't the 07+ use 225/50R17 from the factory?
Tech II can change the tire size as long as that size is an option (and for your year car...maybe it was added only to newer cars). Maybe someone knows for sure.
07+ use a different front wheel well liner. I do not know if this has anything to do with tire size.
My gut says you will rub with a stock Aero because the stock Aeros are not actually at stock height, but rather sit too low. A correct OEM height Aero will probably be ok.
There are online tire size comparison tools. The speedo might be right, but the odometer might then be wrong. I’m not sure anyone knows without trying it.
Tire load is only an issue if you are looking at non-XL rates 225/45 tires. In my opinion, a 91 load rating is too low. Some disagree, as they do not load the car. Any extra of a 225/50 of a 225/45 with a 94XL rating is irrelevant because you will be exceeding the axle load with the 225/45 series tires. If you like extra margin, then I guess there is some benefit. Your friend under load is increased tire pressure. Some say the 94XL is better than the 91 non-XL due to the stiffer XL sidewall.
How does the tire pricing compare?
Can someone who has experience with the pre-07 and 07+ compare the ride on the larger tires. My guess is it is a little smoother with perhaps a little more secure handling. Sometimes the 225/45 feel a dicey in the handling department. They never let go, but it feels off (some of this is due to the 9-5 chassis which doesn’t give that on rails feeling of the German machines)
