On my Aero, I've been troubleshooting the vibration as well.
I think the basic things to check are:
engine mounts
air filter
air mass meter
spark plugs
long belt or short belt?
(all of which I've replaced/checked/cleaned, without much improvement.)
I've also replaced the fuel filter as preventative maintenance.
but I've noticed two things about my car that might be clues.
1- When the AC is on, the idle does get worse/lumpier/rougher. Not sure if the compressor bearings might be worn and causing the rough idle, or just amplifying some existing condition.
2- If I hold the RPMs around 1500, the engine is smooth as (insert adjective of your choice: glass, butter, baby's bottom, silk, etc.)
I've kinda run out of next steps to take on my car; maybe we can compare notes to help each other out. If anyone else has any ideas I can try at home before I take it to the indy (which will likely be a month from now when I can spare the time for the drive), your input is appreciated!
