This is going to sound like an ad, but I have no association with Atomic Auto except as a customer.

My '02 9-5 developed a surging problem. It would speed up a little, then back off and the boost gage moved with the surging.

Called Atomic for an appointment, Travis asked what the problem was, said I could bring it in for a diagnosis, but he had 2 mechanics out and couldn't work on it. I took it in.

They jumped on it, and after a few minutes their meter suggested erratic manifold pressure (if I remember right; this was 6 weeks ago), which led them to suspect the mass air flow sensor. They replaced the MAF, but still had erratic MP. Out came the throttle body and in went a new one. They marked the MAF and TB with my name so they could reinstall my parts if their diagnosis was bad.

Because he wasn't sure of the cure, Travis said to drive the car for a couple weeks and if it was OK, he would put my MAF back in, then let me drive it awhile, and if it was still OK, THEN COME BACK AND PAY HIM.

Couple days later the CE light came on & because the owner's manual said "don't drive it", we had it towed. The brand new fresh out of the box, genuine Saab throttle body was bad. They put in a new one, again said "drive it and pay me when you are sure it is fixed."

After 10 days or so, it was still OK & he put my old MAF back in & I drove it for about 3 weeks more; it was still OK, so this morning I paid him. With all that, he charged me 2 hours labor and fixed my trunk wiring harness for free (I think he felt bad because of all the trouble we had and the time I had to wait when I showed up to get the car & it wasn't ready when promised).

In all my 50 years of car ownership, I have never, ever dealt with a better repair shop than I found at Atomic Auto. Both Travis and Frederick are great and the other guys who work there appear to also be the best. What other repair shop would put in a $480 part and say, "Pay me when you are sure we fixed the problem"? They have my business.
