Lots of Saabs in CT,too. The phrase "Swedish Tank" is apropos, especially during New England winters when many of the qualities considered essential by professional reviewers are rendered moot by five months of challenging and unpredictable weather. Our two 9-5s clearly have a preference for cold, wettish weather. Our Honda is dependable in winter, but lacks the attiude communicated by the Saabs. Last Winter, my '99 9-5 had sat in the driveway for more than a week with night temps at near zero. When I dug it out, I was skeptical about starting. Pushed in the clutch ... turned the key ... immediate vroom! Commuting home in blizzards, I observe other drivers nervously clutching the wheels of their skittish, sculpted and scooped, gimmick-laden sport sedans. I'm in my 10-year-old 9-5 with Swedish snows on all four wheels, the butt warmer on roast and Monk on the keyboard. I'm looking forward to it again this season.
