There's really not much to look for on 2004+ 9-5's. Sludge is supposedly "fixed" for 2004, the SID's don't flake out anymore... Do an ACC calibration (hold AUTO and OFF) to see if anything other than "0" comes up on the screen.
Seems to me that the most common failures on the 2004+ are throttle bodies, DI cassettes, and coolant bypass valves. None of which really give much notice before they go, so there's nothing to look for really.
If it's an automatic check the fluid level/color/smell. It should be pink and smell sort of waxy. If it's at all brown or black and smells burnt have it replaced ASAP. Other than that, good luck!
