While spring rates have some effect, "harshness" is more a function of shock absorber characteristics, bushings, and tires. My 2002 Aero Wagon is definitely not "harsh" riding. You need a suspension expert, or at least an experienced tech, to advise you.
For example, a couple of years ago I had a tech try and find a rattle in the back. He did find it (broken clamp for the fuel filler hose), but also immediately noticed a worn out sway bar link, which I had just become accustomed to and wrote off as the car "just getting old." A few bucks later, and the difference was amazing.
