Those connectors are a pain and break easily. You are supposed to squeeze the top short sides together which unlock the little tabs towards the bottom. This never works for me, but I carefully use a little pick tool to pop the bottom tabs loose and pull it straight up. If a tab breaks I usually use a wire tie somehow to hold it back together. Every electrical connector seems different these days, and trying to figure each one out keeps my brain cells from dying.
