Thanks I'm just reading up on this now. The engine has 100K miles and believe it or not it appears to have had NO timing work ever done to it. I've had it a year and I don't really know what I was thinking by not having this done peremptorily.
What I'm worried about right now: WIS says to remove the fuel lines at the top of the engine, before removing the manifolds and the camshaft covers. Trying to figure out the implications (if any) of messing with fuel lines.
I'm also worried about my general inexperience with the internals of engines. My current plan is to get the cams exposed to just look at what might be going on, maybe take high res pics and post here etc. If I feel too lost at that point I'll probably have it towed to a shop in defeat. (any recommendations in Boston for this?)
