Door systems are among the most expensive for a car manufacturer - if they can share the rear doors with the sedan, I don't see how it's a bad thing. I don't imagine that the sedan doors suck in any way, and it's gonna save you a helluva lot of money. Not only does it cost much much more from a design standpoint, since you gotta start over from scratch; but from an assembly standpoint, everything needs to be sequenced correctly when both styles are running on the same line - ie, you have to make sure that you have the correct sedan/SW parts ready to go on the vehicle. Adds complexity and cost, plus it increases the chance of defects (since there are different parts, different torque specs, etc).
