Can't open the hood...

The battery on my car is dying, and I had to get a jump the other day. Well, I bumped the hood release cable off a connector on the body of the car, which slacked the cable enough to the point where the hood won't open. So now, I am stuck with a hood that won't open, and a battery that may only start the car a few more times.
I tried removing the splash guard underneath the car, and reaching up in front of the radiator, but I can't see or reach the primary release. I also tried through the grill, but wow the hood is extremely snug against the body. Anybody else have this problem, and what did you do? My model is a '00 9-5, V6 3l
Thanks in advanced!
