alright, so have incurred my first real issue with this car, but it could be the big one.
2002 Saab 9-5 Aero. 121k miles.
Driving down the highway (65mph); all of a sudden the car starts to shutter hardcore (feels like a flat tire), engine not responding well to accelerator with crazy shakes, and i pull over.
loud hard knock sound from engine. Hiccups out of exhaust to the same pattern as engine's knock/shutter.
Check engine oil (level good, clean look) - changed 1500 miles ago.
Tried to start car, and it starts fine, but the same hard knock and shutter are present. was wondering problem was temporary. stopped car.
Strange part - No dashboard lights at all. The temp gauge is perfect at 9 o'clock. No indication this was coming until it happened. No codes to read.
I towed the car to my Indy, which he will try to diagnose tomorrow.
i am severely hoping it's not the engine, but who knows with no lights showing up. The other options may be the fuel pump, plugged fuel filter, some type of sensor or misfire, or something unrelated that i am not aware of.
Note: i filled up 15 gallons just 20 minutes prior to issue. Are these symptoms of fuel starvation? or bad gas?
car would not recover.
I thank anyone who can shed some light. Indy is decent guy, but do not want to be taken to the cleaners.
