I've never had to use this technique, but others here claim it has saved their bacon. You'll need a new plug when you're done, but a plumber's pipe wrench with teeth (which makes it a monkey wrench) can remove an overtorqued plug. It ain't pretty or elegant, but it's known to work. The wrench is designed to bite harder as pressure is applied and the teeth latch into the steel on the offending plug head.
