How many remotes do you have for the garage door? Most have an upper limit on the number of remotes they will recognize.
Also, with the "rolling code" types (most anything produced in the last 15 years...), it is a two step process. First step is to program the mirror to act like your remote. That's when you're in the car, pushing buttons & waiting for flashing lights. THEN, you need to match the mirror with your opener. Follow the instructions with the OPENER for adding a remote control device. Usually you push a button on the receiver, then push the button on the mirror within 30 seconds, and flashing lights indicate a successful program.
You may need to clear the program on the button you're trying to use first, or clear all the codes.
HomeLink works fine with most rolling code systems, but it's always possible that your door opener is so new your mirror can't handle it. HomeLink has a website that may help.
