If it doesn"t seem to catch when cold, it could be the fuel pressure regulator. I had a gnome in mine, and it frustrated me to no end, because it was intermittent.
I had my indy check the static fuel pressure, and sure enough, it would drop. This explained the strange symptom I had last summer - left the car parked for two weeks, and came back to it. It only started after the fifth try....
an inexpensive fix, after all.
If it was the CPS or the battery, you wouldn't get it cranking over like it seems you do.
I changed the battery, the spark plugs and the fuel pump on the way to the successful diagnosis - sure wish I had tried the fuelpressure regulator first! And of course, no codes....
