Like Carlo said, get the WHOLE front end up. A sway-bar (correctly: Anti-roll bar) is a torsion spring . When the arms move an equal amount, and in the same direction, there is no tension, the bar simply pivots in the bodyside bushings. When one side moves in a different direction, the sway bar resists the motion (e.g. controls the roll) by twisting the bar.
In some applications, a considerable amount of tension can be released when you remove the end like from the mount if both sides are not raised an equal amount off the ground. And it may be very difficult to put the parts back together again.
