PCV 6 applicability

Just completed PCV 6 on my 01 0-5. Thought I'd take a look at our 09 9-5 and see what's different or the same. Surprisingly, the oil filler was the same as what's in the PCV 6 kit, but no hose was connected to it. So, I'm wondering what Saab did to prevent the problem on the 09 and why do I have an oil filler that for all practical purposes is exposed to the environment. I didn't check to see if the nipple was closed. I was being reminded of touching her car with dirty, greasy hands and arms.
