Possible to bypass a/c pulley? Posted by Bearskull [Email] (#3147) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Bearskull) on Fri, 26 Mar 2010 19:51:52 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Greetings!
I drive a 1999 9-5, and it seems the a/c compressor may be on its way out (gritty internal sound when spun by hand with belt off - I assume this is problematic).
I'm wondering whether it's possible to use a shorter belt and bypass the a/c so I don't have to buy a new compressor? (and I've already got the short belt setup without the center free pulley) If so, I suppose it would look something like the 9-3 belt route on that side of the engine.
But if I bypass the a/c, does the water pump pulley get enough contact with the belt? And what size belt would that be?
Any thoughts would be much appreciated!
