An earlier kit included a check-valve in a different location, then subsequent instructions were to remove that check-valve entirely! This is the reason the latest PCV system is called ver6.0, there have been nearly that many iterations of instructions and parts to correct early PCV system problems.
The service instruction page at GenuineSaab once listed all the iterations of PCV instructions, with red lines through the obsolete instructions and kit numbers.
The PO of your car may indeed have just installed a new PCV kit, but it is obviously one they had purchased many years earlier.
