starting issues (cold engine)

My '02 ARC V6 with 85k miles on it has problems starting when the engine is cold. Some mornings / afternoons I have to try 5+ times for the cranking to finally ignite. It only seems to be a problem in the cold weather months (I live in MO). When the engine is warm it starts on the first try with an occasional second try. This has been the going trend with this car for the past 3 years. The weather is warming up now and my car will go all summer without this issue.
Items / thing I've done to try and fix the problem include:
- battery (6 months old)
- new CPS
- spark plugs are barely a year old and are gapped correctly
- new alternator (the voltage regulator in old one was eating car batteries)
- techron fuel injector cleaner
- cleaned throttle body
- dealer said fuel pump was fine
- tried the "put the car in neutral thing" still didn't work
- different gas stations and octanes
- battery terminals cleaned
This is getting very frustrating to figure out the problem. I don't park on any hills.
Any ideas what else to try?
