Hi,
I've got an MY2000 9-5 LPT, 5-speed manual with about 155k miles. 5 months (~15k miles) ago, the car went into LHM with the CEL and TCS OFF light both illuminated. I drove it home, cleared the codes, reset the TB, and everything has been fine since, no driveability issues at all, EXCEPT the CEL comes on with a p1260 again after every time after I clear it. Since this initially happened in the winter, I didn't do much troubleshooting. The weather has recently turned, so I pulled the intake tube and did a thorough internal cleaning of the TB opening and butterfly (although it didn't look very dirty to begin with) but still had no luck. I have read on this BB that the p1260 indicates "low return spring pressure." Does anyone know if that is the throttle pedal return spring, butterfly return spring (if there is such a spring), or something else, and how to adjust to make this issue go away? Has anyone successfully gotten the p1260 to go away simply by adjusting spring or throttle cable tension? If that is all that is wrong, I really can't justify giving $250 to BBA for a remanned unit! I found a post with some images of frayed internal TB wires and how to fix, but that post listed major surging/stalling symptoms and other codes in addition to the p1260, none of which I have. I really don't care if this is a quick fix that only keeps the light off for a couple of weeks, I just need to pass NYS inspection and then it can come back on for another year. I should note that if I clear the code, start the car and drive, I can go hundreds of miles with no CEL. However, when I shut the car off (even for a minute) then start back up, it seems like as soon as I engage the clutch and start to move, the CEL is back on with the p1260 - very frustrating! Apologies for the length of this message, I wanted to make sure you have all the details :)
