I hope you get advice as I've not been through it, although my V6 has a history of oil cooler failures. I'm thinking you may be better off taking out the radiator and having it flushed/rebuilt at a shop? But maybe the chemicals they use would ruin the radiator? After I got mine back from the Dealer with the new cooler, I drained the coolant and filled it with water and Simple Green. I drove it like that for a couple of days and then flushed it out. I was amazed how much oil residue and grit came out when I flushed it. I'm a fan of Simple Green as it seems to melt away oil and is also non-toxic. I have no idea if it's safe to use but I would think it's much safer then some of the caustic radiator flushes out there. I'll bet that cooler replacement was one heck of a job. Good luck and skill.
