At last summers Saab Owner's Convention we had a driving school at Lime Rock Park in CT. One of the exercises was to drive around a skidpad (basically a big circle) which was flooded with water. Oh, and they put BALD tires on the two cars used for the practice... A 9-3 and a 9-5 Wagon!

I was ASTOUNDED (as was everyone else) at how the 9-5 wagon held the turns and was much easier to recover from a slide than the 9-3. I think it has a lot to do with the longer and wider wheelbase, plus a more even weight distribution... The 9-3 wanted to understeer all the time and then the tail would come around with no warning and with little chance at recovery. The 9-5 wagon although it was a larger car and still had understeer was much harder to bring the tail around. You had to get some speed and yank the handbrake!
