As stated further down this page I had decided to clean the PCV system of my '99 V6, because lately it had started to weep oil through its gaskets.

This is a pretty straightforward job. A few pointers:
-Don't bother taking the TB off. You have to remove the upper inlet manifold anyway, so you don't have to deal with this 3rd bolt on the underside. Just unhook the hoses and cables. Having the hose clamp tool helps, especially on the hose that's on the bottom rear.
-The manifold is a piece of cake, if it weren't for this one small bolt that attaches it to this small upright bracket next to the oil trap. It is on the rear facing downward. No way you can get a small torque wrench with an 'inverted torx 10' in there. In the end a box wrench 8 provided sufficient grip to take it out.
- Take care not to let the remains of the flange sealant drop into the oil pan. It doesn't belong there.
-There's quite some 'coffee' coming out of the trap, but I don't see why it should ever be replaced. It's just a lump of aluminium. The small flap that BMillar talks about further down the page is the only thing that could break if you want it to. Examining it I'm convinced that it's not originally a rubber piece that has hardened, but it's hard plastics from the outset and supposed to have this 'slightly open' shape. It's got its own P/N, 90 502 187 written on it. The trap itself has P/N 90 502 186 written on it. Both P/N are not to be found in the EPC???
- The thing in the line coming from the turbo pipe is not a check valve as I assumed in my post furhter down, but simply a nipple that narrows the pipe to avoid excess air draw. It cannot break.
- I cleaned everything with carburettor cleaner and reinstalled with Locktite blue silicone.
