we looked at a 2002 lpt wagon that had sludged + was cleaned out by the dealer. It also had a brand new turbo (Garret) and most stuff was up to date (owners had records). In the end, we decided to pass, as the work had been done somewhat piecemeal, turbo one visit, headgasket another, oil pan + screen another. Even the block heater got replaced, but the car still didn't have pcv#6! This is the amazing thing to me, I have yet to see a car in Canada with pcv#6 in it!?! We have data strongly suggesting these cars need pcv#6, and as of 2009, a dealer up here performed thousands of dollars of work (under an extended warranty btw) on a car that was clearly sludged and didn't do the easy job with $50 of parts that is essentially the root cause? I don't get it... anyway, good to check over the car thoroughly... we might have been able to do the update + had a good car, but it wasn't clear to me, so we decided to look for a newer one...
But I agree on the color - cosmic blue is uncommon, and sharp looking, that's for sure! Aero has the good turbo. I would just check into the details of the engine work. $4000 is not bad, though the miles are getting up there (might need other work, prepurchase inspection is wise)...
