2000 Saab 9-5 Aero Breakdown in Binghampton NY (Much thanks to a Saab Tech at Matthews GM/Saab in Vestal NY)
Thought this might be helpful to anyone trying to diagnose a P1300 P0300 P300 Code (Mis-fire). Was traveling through Binghampton, NY towing a trailer (hot day/engine working car hard). Suddenly lost power and check engine light flashed. Car would start, but not keep idle (stall). Was able to move off highway by idling high, but would eventually stall and need to be restarted. Noticed Turbo gauge would run into red at stall (key symptom).
Reading through several hits on the P1300/P300 code, I suspected the common (Fouled Plugs, DIC, Ignition Cassette, Crank Position, Fuel Pump, possible Turbo Issues, Vacuum Leak). Spent the night (late Sunday). Next morning tried new plugs/ignition cassette, same problem. Should have spent more time under the hood then on my iphone googling P1300 codes :(.
Had car towed to Dealer, described symptoms to tech, key was the turbo red symptom, he immediately knew the cause (mentioned this also sometimes happens when new turbos are installed, increased pressure). Turned out to be a huge vacuum leak, the main delivery hose attached to the throttle body had come off (held in by large pipe clamp). Re-attached the hose securely, and I was off and running.
Thanks Again to a very knowledgeable Saab tech for your help!!!
