About buying a used 95

After researching used 95s it became apparent that I should be concerned; that the relatively trouble-free world of Saab ownership I'd experienced since 1983 would fall apart in the 95. NOT SO. I bought my 2000 95 from Andrews in Princeton (excellent source of cars and service - saabpros.com) with 120,000 miles. In my first year, I've replaced the battery and a tire. Sure there are nits to pick; heater door replacement is in the cards, coolant leaks a bit when the car is left outdoors and the temp reaches -20 degrees. But all in all the car is excellent. I always average 30+ mpg highway, 25 city (it's the 4 cylinder - avoid the 6), and just got 38 traveling at 57 mph. My feeling is that as GM ownership grew from 2000 to 2009, the quality of OEM parts suffered as the GM cut corners. Maybe this is the reason why some newer 95s have such a bad reputation. So, if you're looking at a 95, it's probable that all the bad OEM parts have already been replaced, leaving you with a bullet-proof Saab turbo 4 and automatic transmission.
