Based on my knowledge of plastics, and the way the lens 'fogged', I would say that the high pressure washer took away the UV protection coating for the upper portion of the lens over the past five years. When grinding, the lower section was noticeably harder to 'powder up', and only when using the 3000 grade head on the grinder did it seem to blend up. On the polishing stage, it seemed to make little difference to the opacity of the lens.
The Meguiar kit had some kind of sealant, but I wonder if the clearcoat from a body shop, possibly in spray form, does the same for paint.
I am going to see how many years it holds up....

And in response to Noel, I have a set of the clear lens protectors, which I purchased from site sponsor State of Nine, but I never put them on my MY99 wagon, which has glass lenses.
