SOLVED! AND A WEIRD ONE Re: Shifting problem Posted by saabsince 93b [Email] (#972) [Profile/Gallery] (more from saabsince 93b) on Sat, 14 Aug 2010 16:02:13 In Reply to: Shifting problem, saabsince 93b [Profile/Gallery] , Sat, 14 Aug 2010 15:31:58 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
This is an amazing one. I check through the WIS and learned how to adjust the shifter, and where the coupling is etc.
I inserted a long florescent work light that I just bought this AM and looked around the mechanism everything looked OK, but I saw something jammed in the bottom below the shift mechanism....A PIECE OF WOOD! Like a piece of root form a bush.....very hard and actually 2 pieces in there. I fished around for bit with some very long 13" or so pliers and got both pieces out. One was jammed under the linkage which is like an aluminum casting that aligns the shift lever with the transmission shaft.
When I go it out one of the pieces had some good size marks on it where it was stopping the linkage from moving.
I have no idea how the wood got in there. It would have to drop down from the top. Could have been an animal of some kind......but what a place to finally end up.
I had already called my indy Walter Wong at the Right Solution and made an appointment for Monday!! And was looking forward to arranging to flatbed it down there!
What a relief. I am so glad I looked at the WIS and decided to poke around in there!!
I would post pictures if I knew how!!
