Jay: Do you tink think that people who buy a Saab are "that" much different than others? Doyou think that the dealers who sell them have business conditions and expectations that are "that" much different from other brands? It's a car. Dealers try to get as much as they can, buyers try to get it for as little as they can. What makes Saab different in this respect?If you thought that the local dealer was asking too much, put an offer on the table! If you do not want to do this,maybe you are really not a buyer.Personally I deal with a dealer who is the third closest Saab dealer to me, not because the price was always the lowest, but for superior service, and because when the closest dealer to me was sold six years ago to a large multi franchise operation, I felt that I wbecame just another number on their customer database, and they lost the personalized service that I value. Fact is, the dealers are entitled to try to make a profit when selling a car. If you are a good negotiator and have accurate prcing data on their costs and incentives, you should be able to go in and make a legitimate offer that shows them where their profit lies, and if your numbers are valid, you should get a yes. If they say no, then by all means go elsewhere.
