Hmmm - I hope you eventually figured out that there are SIX nuts per side in the rear that need to be removed to install the shims.

Once the four obvious ones are off, you need to remove the bracket that holds the parking brake cable and there are two more nuts underneath. Actually, they may be more like studs with a hex in the middle, been some years since I have done this.

I can't imagine anything on there that would bend a breaker bar before stripping the nuts - were you trying to pry the hub out to put the shim in or something? I did have to shorten a 15mm deep socket to the right length to be able to get a wrench in there, but none of the six nuts are particularly tight from the factory, I used a regular 3/8" wrench on mine. Once all the nuts are off, the hub falls off in your hand.
