Ditto the Goodyear Gatorback recommendation Posted by MI-Roger [Email] (#882) [Profile/Gallery] (more from MI-Roger) on Sun, 29 Aug 2010 05:52:03 In Reply to: Any Serpentine Belt Recommendations, NJWayne, Sat, 28 Aug 2010 20:06:27 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
The only belt I have had fail on my 9-5 was a Continental brand. No failures with the replacement Goodyears I have installed.
My "seat of the pants" cause for the Continental failures is the two large cords they insert into the outside ribs of their belts. This makes for a very strong belt, but these cords break traveling over some of the very tight pulley/belt turns on our engines.
Nothing wrong with a Continental belt per se, but they are a mis-application for use on our enignes.
