sure rip into it if you have the time and space, find a machine shop to re-plane the head after its off, personally i would take a good portion of a month to muster up the energy involved in a head-gasket replacement. that oil change at 5k is the reason the motor blew, this motor cant be treated like just any motor, its all over this bb about how bad gum or sludging can take place, the best thing to prevent it is changing, maximum 3k or sooner with the oil, personally im dropping my oil every 1000 to 2000 miles and the oil that comes out of the motor at these milages is just black as tar, the oil filter depending on what one you use can last 3 to 6000, i swap it at 2 to 4k, just drop the 4 quarts often. in my history of playing with cars i never come across a motor such as the one in the 9-5 that's so.... well how can i say... that's so pis`y.
