To get at the lower bolt, the easiest way is to remove the RF tire and get at it from that opening (pull the front half of the inner fender liner, IIRC, if you haven't done so already). Yes, you'll use the same 8mm hex socket that you used on the top bolt. I've used extensions on the socket and a breaker bar to break that bolt loose.
The bolt (same length/style as the top alternator bolt) countersinks through the bracket. To get the bracket out, the alternator does need to come all the way out of the bracket. Hope this helps.
